Hi, I found your ds lite help section on a web site. I was wondering if you can help me. I too repair these ds lite's and have been for about a year. I have pretty much seen it all with these broken systems. I can repair all the broken hinge,lcd screens,L/R trigger buttons, slot1 replacement, fuse repair, power switch. I got pretty good at soldering. Well my problem is water damage and a few other issues. I know the water damage with corrosion is pretty much a waste of time but if you have any suggestions that would be great. My problem right now is I get a green light on startup but NO screen activity on a few of my systems. There is no water damage issue at all that I can see. I know you can get this problem if the WI-FI board is not in all the way, the board is in.The lcd screen ribbons are in all the way. The fuses check out good. There is really no visible signs of anything wrong. I have a theory. You know when you open the ds and close it while it is on, the screens will go out just before it shuts all the way ( like a sleep mode ). What tells the ds to shut the screens off ? I think it is something magnetic but I am not sure. Do you know of anywhere where I can get a repair manual for the ds lite. It would be really nice to know what all the chips on the board are for and what they do and what voltage you should be getting out of them. I have heard you can get these manuals somewhere. I have read many posts on many web sites regarding these systems but they do not go into fixing these sorts of problems that no one can fix. On eBay there are places you can send them to and they say they can fix these problems and if they can't they will refund your money. I would like to know what they can actually fix and what they can't. well any help that you can give me I would greatly appreciate it . thanks...

Fortunately we can fix your DS Lite System. Unfortunately it can be very hard to accurately diagnose this issue without having the system in front of us. For those of you interested in self repair, these symptoms can indicate a faulty f2 fuse, crimp in the upper lcd cable, dead battery or twisted battery contacts, etc. In this case we strongly recommend sending your system into our shop for our professional ds lite repair service. DS Lite shows a green lite at power up then goes dark. Screen does not lite. Previously replaced upper screen, Case, Hinge and lower touch screen. (kids fighting over it :) Is it time to change the lower screen too?

Hi i have had my ndsl for a number of years now and the touch screen has had a few scratches on it from being played alot but just today i went to play one of my games and when i tapped the screen a blue pixel in the shape of a crack appeared where all the scratches are. i tried restarting the game several times. the crack still appeared but is only seen while the power is on. do i need to replace the entire touch screen? and if so how much does that usually cost in a repair shop.

You may have a problem with the battery or a fuse. As there are a number of potential issues with your system, I would recommend sending it in for our professional repair staff to have us fix it for you.

From your description, it sounds like you will need to replace both the touch screen and lower LCD screen. The crack appearing only while on indicates that it has damaged the LCD itself. This is not an easy repair, but if you wanted to try it yourself the cost would be roughly $8.83 for the touch screen + $16.44 for the bottom LCD. Alternatively you can send it in to us for our repair service for $54.99 which covers parts and labor.

Hello I recently replaced the shell on my ds lite because of a broken hinge. When I turned it on however I discovered that the touch screen isn't registering touches except at the very bottom. do you know why this could be?

My Ds is about four years old, and it has gone through a bunch with me. I am still enjoying the system, but the hinge in the back broke. It no longer sstays upright and it will fall to the back after I set it up. Can you fix this Ds?

My ds lite experienced water damage. When I plug in the adapter, I get the charge light (orange light) turning on and then turning off and staying off, which many say would indicate fuse problems. So I opened it up and checked both f1 and f2 fuses, and both of them still work. I took apart the system and let it dry for 24 hours. I reassembled it, it still doesn't work. Could that mean the motherboard is shot? Thanks.

I purchased a DSlite from e-bay (for $8.00) to be used for the shell replacement for my oldest sons broken hinge. They told me they dropped it once and it never turned on after so they sold it for parts. I had it on the counter and my son plugged it in by accident and it turned on once the battery charged. It went thru the set up procedures but you need to turn off and back on again to use the DSlite. It will not turn off via the switch. This tells me this DSlite is good and works other than the switching off and or on. The switch has still has spring to it when you push it on. So i'm assuming the switch has a broken solder lead (from the prior owner dropping it) or it is just bad. I purchased already from you the tri-blade screwdriver and a new swith, it's on its way. What are your thoughts on this problem from the symptoms I described? (If it is just the switch, it was a good buy for $8.00 and the screwdriver and switch cost.) - Jody

The top screen on my DS Lite changes colors and stuff when you move it around. Plus it just shuts off when you close the screen. It won't go into sleep mode. Not sure which parts need to be fixed. Seems like it might be a loose connection. Not sure. Any thoughts on this? Please?

I had a Ds lite a few years back and after the hinge broke the ribbon got damaged and overall.
presently I bought replacement screens for both top and bottom as well as a new shell from amazon.
Everything went okay until the lower screen I saw I had bought the wrong screen it was to big and didn't have the tiny ribbon on top. The Ds would turn on fine until I attempted to push in the lower screen since it was to large to fit. It then suddenly turned off and remained like that, I also put the old screen in it, but it still won't turn on. If I try to charge the orange lite is only on for a second.
The battery is not the problem is as much as I know currently.
Did I tweak something maybe?

My left and right triggers are broken on my ds. I thought it would be something that would last a day or something but it has been about 4 months. They click just fine but when I play a game they dont work. I have to jam it down before it does anything. Can you tell me how to self repair it? Thanks

My DS Lite bottom screen is only showing white, the touch screen still works, its just white. Is the screen just loose or should I replace it?

You likely just need to replace the top lcd screen, but anytime there is a flashing on and off symptom we recommend you send it in for repair, as it could be caused by a number of issues.

You may have knocked loose the touch screen connector during installation. Open her back up and make sure that connection is tight. If you can't get it working, send it in to us and we can fix it for you. Thanks!

Water damage is the hardest thing to diagnose and repair. It could be anything. One short in the entire works, and your system is shot. I strongly recommend sending it in for us to repair. That way, even if we can't get it working we can give you credit towards a refurbished system. Thanks!

I succesfully replaced the case on my daughter's ds-lite, then decided that the shiny new case meritted a scratch-free touch screen. In the process of replacing the touchscreen, the small black "hinge" on the touchscreen connector came off. While trying to put it back on, it basically disintegrated in my tweazers (too much pressure, I guess). Can you suggest a way to secure the small touchscreen cable to the system board, or should I give up and buy her a dsi for her birthday?

My daughters DS lite seems to have some loose conection inside. Both screens goes almost white (you can still see some of the stuff but very dull) When you press a little harder right below the touch screen the display becomes perfectly readable. Can there be a loose conection in there?

I got a DS Lite from a friend and the directional pad doesn't work. The up button works ok, left and right will not work no matter what, and the bottom one functions if pressed really really hard. Hopefully I am not the first who has this problem but I was told that I am one of many. How much will it be to fix this?

when i plug in my ds lite it flashes yellow for a minute and then stops. When i try to play it while it's charging, it works for about 3-5 minutes and then shuts down. Also, sometimes when I turn on my system it's reset completely, I have to enter in all my information as if it's a new ds!
I have had this ds for at least 3 or more years so I'm very attached to it, and I don't have the money to pay for a new one, especially since I'm still in high school and have no way of income.
Also, I was told it was a faulty battery and so I bought a battery online and I can't open the battery cover with the included screwdriver, soon after I bought this, I was told not to play around with my ds, and if I replaced the battery wrong, my ds won't work at all. This all started around December 2010, and i had my ds taken away until school had ended, so it hasn't been in use for at least 8 months. Please help me.

I have a DSi XL and it has worked perfectly fine since I've had it. I'm extremely careful with it. When I plug in the charger, the charger light comes on for a second and then goes out. (this is the only problem it has) How can I fix this?

I have a ds lite that turns on but after a little while it turns off. we hav etried the fuses and they seem to be fine. Could the problem be the top screen needs to be replaced and that is why the whole system goes off? We bought it this way and we are trying to fix it. We buy broken ones often and fix them up but have never had this problem where we couldn't find the issue.

I am using an R4 card with my Nintendo DS Lite and, once-in-a-while, I experience (seemignly) random freezing.
I recenly and accidentally plugged my US-bought DS into 220V for a few seconds. The device turns on, I can acess saved files, and play. When one character levels up, every time the device freezes.
How can I tell if I caused permantent damage to my DS from the wrong voltage? How can I tell if my DS is fine, but the issue is with the R4 card? Either way, for whatever issue, are there any ways to fix this?

P.S. To clarify: previous freezing did occur in my DS before the wrong-voltage incident, but now it only seems to occur when the character levels up.

My ds lite is fairly old and ive had it for years, a few weeks ago i left it in my car in a pocket behind the seat, when i got it a day later it wouldnt turn on, i replaced the battery still nothing. When sliding the power switch both screens flash for a split second then it turns off. The light is green. It seems to charge alright but charging is not the problem. PLZ HELP!!

heres a tricky one i just tested both my f1 and f2 fuses and got healty readings and when i have a fully charged battery in works perfectly but when i go to charge battery it flashes orange but not in time, its solid orange for 4 sec then flashes fast then solid agin for 2 to 3 sec even when i tack battery out try switch on it almost comes on but cause orange flashing it goes off again changed chargers i use genuine one and battery, so what up with that??

Alexis Georgia probley have to buy whole new screen and depends if it top = tricky or the bottom one = easy to fix bye stripping the whole dsi xl down whitch is not too hard and thay sell on ebay around £20 depending if top or bottom and still depens how deep scratch is and or noticeable plus next time get screen protectors, just in case.

i notice before for a while though i was waiting for a respond that my touch pad was missing the part where it protects the bottom screen so did you guys misunderstood me when i put down to put it together because the top lcd ribbon cable was broken ( i ripped it while to try to repair it before sending it to u guys) and the bottom screen i accidently ripped that part off trying to get off the white outline....

hi i bought my daughters ds lite used because i could not afford a new one. shes had it about a year now. i bought a new battery for it because it would not charge any longer. now my problem is that it charges but when we turn it on it just flashes and shuts down. could you please help me with what it might be. someone told me it was a fuse but i dont want to buy new parts till im for sure. thank you.

hi i've had my ds lite for about 3 years. about half a year ago there was a crack in the top screen and now the dead pixels have spread to cover about a quarter of the screen. recently my sound died as well - it came back on once but after i closed it it stopped working again. also occasionally it freezes after closing and opening, and does not recognise my cartridge. the screen crack was due to too much pressure on the ds in my bag, but im not sure what might have caused the rest. how much would all this cost to repair? would it be smarter to just buy a new one?

Hi there, I recently put a new motherboard in my DS Lite, and Slot 1 is now very tight. I have to push a lot harder to get the card in, and even pull it back up when it gets to the bottom because the card is being squeezed to tightly for the spring to pop it up. I'm thinking this is because the Microphone wire is now being depressed on the outer wall of the slot by the shell. Any thoughts on how to correct this? Any specific position the mic wire needs to be in to avoid this?

When I turn on my dsi lite you can barely see the images on each of the screens. it is almost completely white. Please help!

I have a wonderful DS Lite that has worked like a charm for two years, but now the bottom screen does not work. When you turn it on, it has sort of gray and white horizontal line running through the bottom screen about as thick as a hair for each line. If you tap on the bottom screen it reacts and does the right thing, but you just can't see anything through the lines. I would really like to know if I could fix it myself, and if I can't, how much does it cost to fix. If you have any questions or if you need a picture send an email to me please. Thanks! Katherine˜

My Nintendo DSL is under warranty it has been on charge but wont turn on. If it turns on I keep it on charge but it shuts down randomly in a game when I don't slide the power switch. Some times it shuts down when I have not got a finger near the power switch and it is charging. What do I do?

We have 4 ds's we've taken well care of them about a few weeks ago three of the ds's top screen turned white .Then my brothers ds wouldn't read the games completely . Then the l/r buttons didn't work . Then the one that was fine top screen goes all the way back and freeze's when playing games. Three have some scratches here and there. But my ds came with a huge crack over the back part. My brothers and I have though of having them refurbished but it cost to much. is there any good repair shop that we can take them to be refurbished at low cost?

The Touch screen will not calibrate properly. It seems to have a dead spot in the north east corner of the screen.
It goes into the endless calibration loop even after cleaning, Thanks.

When I turn on my DS lite, It is green for a few seconds then it flashes white on the bottom screen. I tried turning it on again but it still did the same thing. Is it because of an overheat on the battery? Can somebody please help me?

the hinge on my nintendo ds lite broke and it is all floppy but still it works should i just repair it by glue (i don't know what it is called but the one you use on things) or change the shell by reassembling it i saw how to but it's so complicated and i want to change color and fix the hinge should i continue or leave it as it is? would you recommend changing shells? because maybe by changing shells it would be more prone to damage and get easily broken because it's not the original shell and maybe it will be low in quality if i change shell?

When I was playing my DS Lite last night, when I started up the device I noticed that the startup tone was substantially more high pitched than normal. It was fine when I played the night before last. Is there a reason why this happened and is it an indicator that more problems might arise in my system later?
